How to manage your menu

A step-by-step guide to accessing GastroU and keeping your bar or restaurant’s menu up to date.

Open the admin login

01Before you start: create your password

  1. Open your GastroU welcome email and follow the link to set your password.
  2. Create a password with at least 8 characters and save it.
  3. Return to the login page and sign in with your email, restaurant identifier and new password.

If you cannot find the email or the link has expired, open the admin login, enter your email and restaurant ID or slug, and use the button to request an email link. You do not need to enter a password to request it. Check your spam folder too.

02Sign in to the administrator

https://gastrou.com/admin/login
  1. Email: use the email registered as the venue’s administrator.
  2. Restaurant ID or slug: enter your venue’s identifier without quotation marks, @ or the full web address.
  3. Password: enter the password you created through the email link and sign in.

03What is a slug and where can I find it?

The slug identifies your venue in GastroU. It usually contains the business name and city, separated by hyphens. Copy the exact identifier; do not guess it from the name.

In a menu address like this, the slug is the part after @:

https://gastrou.com/@your-restaurant-city
Example identifiers
your-restaurant-city

It may also appear after /cartas/ in a menu link. If you only have a QR code, scan it and check the address that opens. If the link uses a custom domain or you cannot identify the slug, ask the person who registered your venue with GastroU. You can also use the numeric ID if it has been provided.

04What you will see after signing in

The menu’s active languages appear at the top. The three main sections are Restaurant details, Categories and Products. You will also see Dashboard and other tools depending on your venue’s enabled features.

Restaurant details

Find your menu’s QR code and edit the name, logo, phone, address, website, social media, short and long descriptions, and menu colours. Select another active language to edit the description translations further down the page.

Categories

Organise your menu into sections such as tapas, dishes or drinks. Edit the base information and translations for each category.

Products

Manage the products in each category. Check names, descriptions and prices, and edit translations in your menu’s languages.

Dashboard

View statistics for the last 30 days to see how people use your menu.

05Edit your menu and translations

  1. Select Spanish under Active languages to edit the base information for these menus. If your venue has a different main language, use that for the base.
  2. Open Restaurant details, Categories or Products, make your changes and save them in the relevant section.
  3. Select another active language to edit its translations and save each change.
  4. You can add more languages in the administrator. Then review and complete their translations.

The language of this guide or the interface is separate from the menu language you are editing. Always check which active language is selected.

06Before you finish

  • Save changes in each section and language.
  • Open the public menu through its link or QR code.
  • Check venue details, categories, products and prices.
  • Switch languages in the public menu to review translations.
